NEWTON ABBOT SPURS HOME

"AT LAST"
It was good to see the loyal fans again, after the long lay-off from the weather. But the prospect of a good gate would be slight. Having that "OTHER " team playing at home and of course the cold weather. Visitors today , although based low in the league, gave us a tough game. It took untill the 30th min, before we broke the dead-lock. A free kick , floated across by skipper Jamie Morrison Hill, found John Hefferman on the far post. His header was a bit untidy , but still gave us the lead. But just before the tea and biscuits whistle, they should have been level. A through ball saw a one on one with our keeper "Zinny". But he covered his ground well, and the open chance went wide. After the break we had them on the back foot for long spells. Brooksie, Doely, and Chris Wright, all had goalworthy shots blocked. We finally sealed the game when a shot was only half saved. The ball ran kindly for "Andy Sargent", just back with us from Launceston, to fire the ball home. It took the pressure off, and no way back for the visitors. We saw snow, rain and sunshine within the 90mins, but that was the price for all three points. Next game now for you, Tues 10th at home to Penzance in the Throgmorton cup. k/o 7.45pm.
Stay tuned "lidds"
