THROGMORTON CUP AWAY TO TAVISTOCK
THE "LAMBS" PINCH IT !!
Well! Well! not a way to settle any cup-tie, but with the score line stalemate after extra time, penalties would be the issue. Both sides well supported, produced some good football that saw play end to end. I thought with both keepers, Ben Elphlick for Parkway, and Andy Meeds for Tavy, both bringing off some great saves, it kept the score sheet negative. Parkway manager Dave Leonard played all the options from the bench. One being "Kirk Smith" drafted in from the second team. But his fresh legs was short lived . He was the subject to a so-called two footed tackle. To the amazement of all at "Langsford Park" the "ref " showed us all where he kept his red card !! This was a bitter blow to us so late in the game. But we held on for the final whistle. It must be said "Tavy" stepped up and produced 5 brilliant penalties. On our side, Andy Sargent, Paul Baker, Mat Cusack and Chris Wright all found the net. But fate fell for us when Jonnie Morris saw his effort cannon off the cross-bar with the ball disappearing into the night sky ?? . It was the cup over for us. Can I say on behalf of the Parkway powers to be, the half time hospitality was top class.
