SALTASH UTD THROGMORTON CUP AT HOME
"ASHES TOO HOT TO HANDLE "???
"Saltash", a young talented side, came across the "Tamar"
with a more positive attitude to win than we could handle.
The much awaited tie between the Clubs was attended by a good crowd despite the elements. They saw an entertaining game added by the slippery conditions. We had a bonus at the start hearing that ex-Parkway player "Tony Bouch" was not playing. In my book, "Bouchie" is one of the finest young defenders in our league. But on the night, he was asked to take over the Managers role for the game. First half we held out , untill just on the break they scored. A typical goal stabbed home from close in from a corner. Second half going further ahead with another corner seeing them getting the last touch. The final nail in the coffin, and to sum up our night, was a free kick from 35yds. It went through like a rocket giving Parkway keeper "Dave Painter" no chance. We have only ourselves to blame. On the night we were without doubt,
"second best".
