DEVON PREMIER CUP V NEWTON ABBOT

"BRILLIANT WIN"
Parkway seconds recorded a great victory in this round of the
Devon Premier cup. It was against the odds but the win was
fully justified. We took the lead with "Ross Avery" heading in by the near post. He was on target again in the second half.
On a breakaway, he shot low past the keeper to secure the win. Parkways keeper "Evans" made some fine saves. The two big front runners for the visitors found "Fossie" a real stumbling block in anything they had planned. He was in my book "Man of the Match". Under the managers request, the first team squad was asked to attend to give support. They did just that in fine form. The friendly" banter and songs of praise" could be heard above the tree tops ,and the sound of the patter of the rain. This was led mainly by our resident choir master "Vic Easterbrook"
But it was a great win and puts in the hat for the next round ??
WELL DONE PARKWAY RESERVES !!

CULLUMPTON AT HOME

7-2 Victory over Cullumpton Rangers
After the poor game down at Weston Mill, we bounced back to fine form at the expence of the visitors. It was a perfect night for footy, and a fairly good crowd saw a game minus any yellow cards, but a hat-full of goals. Now that's got to be better than "Coronation Street"??. It was good to see "Andy Sargent" get his full 90mins after his long injury. "Cullumpton" although at the present time living on the ground floor of the league , never gave up trying, and managed to find the net twice. But found the likes of "Berry, Sargent and Martin Sullivan" to much to handle. "Ross Coombes and Eddy Edwards" also had a lot to say in the fine home win. Scroll down to see the score-sheet. "Lidds"

"BROOKSIE" MAN OF THE MATCH
In any game, he will thrill you with his clever touches on the ball. Also his passing of the ball from the mid-field will control the game. There were plenty of names in the hat for the award, but he got the casting vote.

Was a constant threat to the visitors with his quick pace on the ball. It was no surprise that he put his name on two goals.

THROGMORTON CUP .V. VOSPERS

COURAGE SHOWN AT "WESTON MILL"
Again I have to say we did not play well. It was always going to be a difficult game between the two sides. But courage was called upon ,when we found ourselves twice a goal down in the 90mins. Their goal in the 25th min a free kick headed in by the near post. Just before the break "Robbie Powell" stabbed home a second ball to put us level. Strong words on the break, got our heads up. But an infringement in the box put them ahead again from the spot. So being the superior side, we had to show our strength. It came with "Ryan Fice" putting us level again on 75 mins. Three shots blocked , but "Ficee" found the net. Late in the game both sides looking for the winner. It came for us with "Lee Doel" by the near post, managed to get the ball into the box for "Ross Coombes" to tap home what was the winner. All credit to "Vospers" who battled to the end to make it a local cup-tie. We now face another difficult fixture in the next round against our friends across the Tamar "Saltash Utd"

HOLSWORTHY AWAY

WE ARE "FLAGSHIP IN THE LEAGUE" ONCE AGAIN.
After the away win at "Upcott Field" we find ourselves top of the league with the 2-0 victory over "Holsworthy". Although not in attendance, my eyes at the game "Alan Horswell" tells me we played well in the first half. We saw the break leading by two goals. The first, when inspite of the height of the home keeper, "Ryan Fice " found the chance to lobb the ball for a great goal. The second involved "Ficee" again setting up "Martin Sullivan" to score from close in. Second half he tells me ,we took the pressure off somewhat. But the two goals was enough for the three points. A date now for your diary ??

CLYST ROVERS AWAY

NOT A DAY TO REMEMBER
Well, well, what can I say. On the day we did not play well at all. But I have found that when you play the basements sides in the league, they tend to bring you down to their level. It must be said we had to come back twice in the game to equalize. Then in the second half the game was spoilt. "Lee Doel" on his attempt to take a throw in, was "kicked" to the ground by their "MANAGER" no less. The natural reaction from him was to retaliate for which he received the red card. Also ordered off, was their manager who left the ground immediately. I think this was to save his skin. (he was last seen heavily diguised at Exeter Airport) So the game was spoilt. The general patter in the club after any game is normally enjoyed. But Im afraid this time it was very solemn, and short -lived. Revenge will be sweet when they come to "Bolitho Park" Scroll down for the images.

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON F.A.VASE REPLAY

THE HOME CROWD
A good crowd on a perfect night for football, turned out to witness a great cup-tie. Play was end to end with respective keepers forced to make some brave saves. The visitors had to apply to an early set-back with a straight red card ,being reduced to ten men for dangerous play. However, it was the second period, before we broke the dead-lock. "Lee Doel" just inside the box, let go a screamer in the roof of the net to give us the lead. This was followed when good work by "Shane Powell"on the left flank. Heavily marked ,he still managed to get the ball in the box for "sniffer Ryan Fice "to force the ball over from close in. We were now the dominate side ,and went close again this time "Eddy Edwards" hitting the woodwork with a great effort. Our front runners were too strong for the Budleigh defence to handle. Not forgetting the services and skills of "Martin Sullivan" missing on the left flank being side-lined through injury. But the result was good, and the powers to be must have been well pleased to see us into the next round. This will be again unknown quality by the name of "Ilfracombe Town" at home. Scroll down to see the score sheet.

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON F.A. VASE CUP

WAITING FOR THE WHISTLE
Here we are enjoying the sun, before we do battle. Knowing full well it was going to be a hard game. How right we were. Taking the lead with a "Stuart Berry" header from a corner by "Brooksie". They came back level with a sloppy goal forcing the extra time. Again we went ahead "Mark Berry" this time rounding the keeper what we thought was the winner. But in the dying moments they forced a replay, with it must be said ,a great goal.

"EARLY PRESSURE"
The slender win at "Lux Park" did not come easy. We had to soak up some early pressure keeping "Dave Painter" on his toes. But he handled well and got my "Man of the Match". Both sides came close and play was end to end. Second half saw the dead-lock broken after 15mins. "Ryan Fice" guided a "Martin Sullivan" corner, over the defence, heading what turned out to be the winner. This win away from home keeps us "flagship" in the league. Scroll down to see some action.
