ST BLAZEY AWAY

"SHAKE HANDS BEFORE THE BATTLE !!"
Here we see more football experience than I dare to comment on !!. Before the
game, the team managers namely , Glynn Hooper and Dave Leonard, have a friendly natter. More than likely to remind us that we have never beaten St blazey in any competitive fixture to date. Just when I thought this would be the day, It all went sadly wrong. The first 15mins we were in the game. But a low shot was their first goal followed shortly with a second, well struck chance that found the net. Second half we did not play well at all. A third goal was the killer with no chance of thinking we could beat them for the first time ever . (dream on). I trust we all had a safe trip home.
Next Sat Falmouth at home.

ST BLAZEY AWAY

"TWO MINUTE SILENCE HELD"
Before the whistle, both sides show respect on hearing of the death of a well known player "Brian Jefferis", who died early Saturday. He was someone I knew, both as a person and a brilliant footballer. In the 90mins of any game , he would stand out !!.
He will be a sad loss to our football community. "lidds"

PARKWAY 2NDS V LAUNCESTON

"PHILL DANIELS" ON TARGET TWICE !!
Parkway 2nds recorded a more than convincing win over the visitors Launceston. Opening the scoring was Kirk Smith . To make the score-line safe Phill Daniels found the net on two chances. In the Parkway defence, Pete Foster well backed up by Alex Mitchell were well in charge of any danger. It was a good win. Tune in for the Ist team news against Saltash Utd.

PARKWAY V SALTASH HOME

"GOOD ATTENDANCE"
On Friday as expected, the big crowd saw a game that had everything. 2 penalties, a couple of yellows! one red card, Having said that, they saw some good football which was sportingly played with both sides showing respect. The early set-back for us when Ross Saint had a moment of madness and made contact with his hand. The spot kick was duly converted. But to be fair, the "Ashes" should have been well ahead on chances. But for Parkway's keeper, Ben Elphlick sheer brilliance keeping the score-line to the single penalty strike. After the break no side fully in control. Scoring chances both ends. Then late in the game a controversial penalty shout. The home keeper was seen to make a brave save at the feet of Chrissey Wright. But the man in black saw a slight trip before by Josh Fenwick. He dug deep for the red card. It was harsh, but things were levelled when the penalty was poorly taken hitting the post, with the second ball hit wide of the target. So the single goal stood for the result, but I feel all in attendance enjoyed the game fully. Next one now St Blazey away .

PARKWAY 2NDS V TAVISTOCK

"THE LAMBS ARE SLAUGHTERED !!"
Parkway Seconds certainly made an impact on their first game in the new league. It was a more than convincing win over the visitors Tavistock. I thought after the first goal, that Parkway were going to dominate the play. The goal came after good work from "Tommo". His cross was duly struck with a low shot by Lewis Young. Then , on 15 mins, he struck again for his second. Second half we were well in control. "Fossie"came off the bench to protect the score-line. But then Ross Avery opened his account with a low shot , and went on to score again. To round off the day, Alex Mitchell, having a great game in defence, joined the attack and headed a beauty to make the tally of five. I enjoyed my day with the "seconds", they played a spirited game and fought for every ball to get the first win in the Premier league. So when our Chairman suggests another coverage, it will be done without question.

LAUNCESTON AT HOME

Bulleted List

"Oh Sh---t!!
This was the look of despair, after a shot slipped through the normally safe hands of Parkway keeper Ben Elphlick. It gave them the lead after only 10mins. But all was not lost for long. Josh Fenwick headed us back level pegs before the break. Second half all was calm, until, Andy Sargent snapped onto three chances, to give him the hat-trick in about 8mins. That will take some beating. So we record our first win at home in our league programme. Our next game at home now is on the 21st Aug against our friends across the bridge, Saltash Utd. Dont miss it !!

Torpoint away

"NO TROUBLE AT MILL!!"
We cruised back over the Tamar with all three points in the hold. But the score-line to be fair was a little flattering. Torpoint had us on the back-foot on many occasions. We had a first half lead when a Gavin Cockman cross was turned in by Mat Cusack. Second half , the second goal from Arron Cusack (brother). The home side then came at us, and it was no surprise they pulled one back. We were now under pressure with them looking for the equalizer. But you must be on guard for the breakaways. They paid the price for this, when Paul Baker broke away. With only the keeper to beat he was brought down in the area. A yellow card for the keeper (should have been red) and a chance for Andy Sargent to open his scoring account from the spot. Which he did with ease. The final nail in the coffin for them, was Simon Parnell coming off the bench, and finding the net with a finely struck low shot to bring the tally to four goals, and to register the first league win of the season. CHARITY BOWL

"WE CHILL-OUT THE CHAMPIONS !!!
We blew a cold wind over the league champions at Pennygilliam, with a great victory in the Charity Bowl cup final. A good crowd with the weather kind to us, saw a fast and keenly fought game. The general patter around the ground for the result, took a severe blow when we took the lead after 10mins. Gavin Cockman lurking on the far post let go a pile-driver that took a slight deflection but found the roof of the net. Bodmin came at us and gave us some anxious moments. But they found Matty Hawke master of ceremonies in our defence. Also young Parkway keeper Ben Elflick matched all the skills of the Bodmin keeper , ex- pro Kevin Miller at the other end. His dead ball kicks were equal as well ??. Second half we gave them an up-hill struggle going further ahead. A free kick just outside the box, was floated in to the far post. Josh Fenwick out jumped the defence, and left the Bodmin keeper grasping thin air. It was a fine win for the new young squad we present at Parkway. Let us hope we can continue into the new season with the same zest to win. I trust we had a safe trip home. By the way, someone tell the Bodmin keeper, win or lose in cup matches, you still line up for your medal ????.
