EXMOUTH TOWN AT HOME

WE TOPPLE THE LEAGUE LEADERS !
This was going to be a tough task, having the newcomers to the league having a great start. However, a great afternoon was to unfold. We took the lead early by "Steve Colwell". He combined well and his low shot found the net. They were level on the break with a brilliant header. Second half we more the prominent side. With the return of "Gavin Coulton" alongside "Mike Landricombe" scoring chances were to be few for the "Devon Resort". The game then was within our grasp. "Ryan Richards" found the corner of the net, followed up shortly when a ball ran kindly for "Danny Lewis" to finish. There was no way back for them to save the result. A slightly below average crowd on behalf of that other team that was playing at home ? However, they enjoyed the "Sunshine" and the great result for us. The beer was sure "tasty" in the clubhouse after the game !!

"Ben" CALLS FOR A WALL ??
They had a glorious chance to score being awarded a free kick well inside the box. We formed the wall, but the shot was taken without touching a player. As it was ruled in-direct, it was ruled no goal by the "Ref". Big mistake on their part .

GREAT GOAL !
It must be said their goal to give them level pegs was a beauty !. Their tall front runner "Ace High" ?? towered above our defenders and a free header crashed the net giving "Ben" no chance to save.

MAN OF THE MATCH
After this brilliant win against the "Devon resort outfit" who were currently flagship in the league. I was hard pressed to pick the club winner. So many players put in a fine performance to go in the frame. So I consulted the powers to be at the club for the casting vote ?.  It fell for the trusty left foot of "Marc Bonney". Next game is the F.A. Cup at home to "Ilfracombe".( Sat 31st) We have somewhat bad memories to the last time we met this "North Devon" crowd ??. Maybe this time it will be a different story to tell.?

F.A.CUP

THE "BALL BOYS" ARE READY??
The weather conditions played a cruel blow to us for this "F.A.Cup" tie, against local rivals "Saltash Utd". However all those that braved the elements saw a high spirited game none the less. We had a dream start going ahead after 5mins of play. Although slightly untidy, it saw "Levi Landricombe" get the last touch to score. They were back level before the break with a header , sending "Ben" in the home goal, the wrong was to save. Play was end to end, with "Willy and Mike Landricombe" strong in our defence. Just when I thought the score-line was to be stalemate, we forced a corner. The ball was well placed, and it was "Steve Colwill" who out jumped the "Ashes! defenders and his header found the net for what was to be the decider. It was a great day apart from the weather. All thanks to loyal fans who gave us the support on the day. Also the Ball Boys who did a fantastic job in the rain !

FALMOUTH TOWN AWAY

"BRILLIANT START"
This turned out to be a good start for the season. All the squad put in a great performance. 2 goals from "Luke Rundle", Lance Bailey" squeezed one in , and "Ryan Richards" hit 2 goals for himself. One of them a half volley rocket !!. We did go an early goal down, but it was soon level pegs for us. Within two mins "Luke Rundle" found the net twice. They then got back level from the spot kick. But the game was in our grasp. Second half, off the bench "Lance Bailey" found the net, and two from "Ryan" done the trick. I was glad for the powers to be at the club to get a good start to the season. All in all, it was a good day out. A quick thank you for the hospitality shown to us at "Bickland Park", it was top class.

FALMOUTH TOWN AWAY

WE DRAW LEVEL !!
"Luke Young" is not afraid to come from his position in defence and look for the chance to score. Here we see him spreadeagled! but he won the challenge and found the net. Two minutes later he was on target again to put us flagship. As you will see as you scroll down ? he had a good day out ??

"BICKLAND PARK KEEPER"
Although we managed to beat him to the tune of 5 times ! he did bring off some good saves during the 90 mins of play.

THEIR PENALTY !
After an incident in the box, "Ben" had yet again to face a spot kick. He managed to dive the correct side and got a touch on the ball. But the ball crossed the line to give them level pegs.

"TOWN'S" BEST DEFENDER !!
Young "Ryan Richards" all through the game had this fella! as a marker. He turned out to be their best defender by far.

CONSTANT THREAT !!
All through the game "Ryan Richards" was a constant danger for the "Bickland Park" defenders. But as the game was to unfold ? he got on the score-sheet twice !!

MAN OF THE MATCH !
With the squad giving a great performance, there was more than one player in the frame for the club award. So it was left for a supporters vote on the trip home. The casting vote fell for two goals on the day,    "Luke Rundle". General manager "Gez Baggott" doing the honours.
Next game Tuesday Aug 13th at home to "St Blazey."

CHARITY BOWL FINAL

IT WENT TO THE PENALTY SHOOTOUT !!
Both teams had to battle against the elements all through the first half. But there were chances at both ends never the less. The outfit from Cornwall took the lead after 22mins all be it from a free kick. Just outside the box, nothing special but it was steered through a mellee of players and found the net. We were back level soon after when "Marc Bonney" crossed the ball for "Levi Landricombe"to connect first time and score. (33mins) . Second half we were the stronger side, with "Willy, Gavin, and Mike Landricombe" well in control of the "Bodmin" front runners. The powers to be played the options from the bench. It gave us more bite up front. "Ryan Richards" had a glorious chance but shot wide. He was also unlucky, when with the keeper beat, he hit the post. It bugs me to say this, but "Kevin Miller" in the "Bodmin" goal was our main stumbling block to claim the day. He made some good saves. With the 90min whistle blown ! it was down to the dreaded penalty shootout. This is were we failed going down 4-1. However, in the clubhouse after, a saying we have heard many times from supporters     THE BEST TEAM LOST !!

CHARITY BOWL FINAL

EX-PARKWAY PLAYER !!
We had to contend with the skill and running of "Lee Doel" for "Bodmin Town". He was once a firm favourite at "Parkway".
