SALTASH TOWN HOME

"WE COOL !! THE ASHES"
Well! Well!. We are now back in the driving seat once again. This home victory over our rivals from across the water gives us some hope. If ?? we can get any kind of result against the league champions "Bodmin Town", we might just get lucky. It will be up to other results from Saltash or Ivybridge Town that will be crucial. Let us not forget , they have to play each other yet ??. But this game was a huge victory for us.
The 90min brief from the Manager Dave Leonard was full of praise for the commitment that was shown, especially when they came back level. A word of thanks to Ian Evans, the second team keeper, drafted into the first team squad at this important stage of the season. So far, he has not let us down. So, with one game to go for us, it is going to be a close finish ?? The big one !! Friday Bolitho Park league champions "Bodmin Town" ??????

SALTASH TOWN HOME

"STUMBLING BLOCK"
Saltash did get back level pegs with what I call scruffy goals. But Matty Hawke was a real problem for the Ashes front runners. When you have the pedigree of players like Gavin Coulton to handle, you have to be at your best. "Hawkie" was a brick wall for the 90mins.

The both Cusack bros played a major roll
in this home victory. Aaran Cusack was
on hand to shoot through a mellee of
players to give us the 3-2 lead before the break. Second half, we were under some pressure from the Ashes, when the they were looking for the "ref's whistle, he lobbed the keeper from 25ydsto give us the
final 4-2 score-line.

WADEBRIDGE TOWN HOME

"DISAPPOINTMENT " !!
The powers to be at parkway are not happy. Mark Gammon put's on a brave smile, but team manager Dave Leonard does not like the result. In front of a poor crowd, have we blown the chance for the second spot in the league. This was a game we really had to win. But Stuart Dudley had other plans ?. We saw the break on level terms, with the wind playing a major roll as regarding good football was concerned. After the break we took the lead again. It lasted until 2 mins from time, when it was cruelly snatched away. So now the battle comes somewhat harder for us. It will start on the next game which will be Saltash at home. Then to put the final nail in the coffin ? we have league winners Bodmin Town ?? Scroll down and stay tuned .

LISKEARD AWAY

"AWAY WIN AT LUX PARK"

Dave Leonard must have been pleased with the result at "Lux Park". It keeps us on track for that elusive runners up spot within the league. But it was not easy!. A small crowd by our standards, saw a goal-less first half with many squandered chances from both sides. We broke the deadlock early after the break, Arran Cusack crossed the ball and a clear cut header by Andy Sargent gave us the vital lead. His second goal 10mins later, caught the "Blues" defence wide. It left a simple task to side-step the last defender and roll the ball home. But that was not the end. Liskeard were a danger on the breaks. One of which saw a shot of no great strength. But it found a path through a melee of players and into the net. The 90min whistle was a sweet sound to us all. We now face another battle Saturday at home when we take on an ex-Parkway favourite by the name of Stuart Dudley !! and his merry men of Wadebridge Town. Let us hope we are switched on for this one ??. I trust we all had a safe trip home.

BUCKLAND HOME

BONUS POINT FROM BUCKLAND ??
We should have been dead and buried in this top of the table battle. The first set-back was the early goal inside 5mins. The image shows the player with the ball behind him. But he still managed to find the net for a scruffy goal. We levelled with a Andy Sargent special, heading in from a corner. But they should have been well on top hitting the post twice with great shots. Second half more chances for them went begging. Then a major blow for us when "Zinny" (keeper) got on the wrong side of the ref for a red card. "Robbo" took the jersey to see us through the last 10mins. They had a dark secret sat on the bench by the way of "Bonaparte". I think if he had come on earlier, it would have been the final nail in the coffin for us. As it was, it must go down as a bonus point, but with only 10men they must kick themselves for not registering the away win.

"ZINNY "BLOTS HIS COPY-BOOK !!
Simon Zinn put us under some pressure in the late stages of the game. The ref had cause to caution him with the yellow card. "Zinny" responded by telling the ref what a lovely man he was ??. For this, the ref saw "red", and so did Simon when the red card came out. Hence, we were down to 10men, and Zinny was first in the showers !!. But all joking aside it could have cost us the game.

ELBURTON AWAY

IT WAS A BAD "GOOD" FRIDAY AT HAYE ROAD !!
All credit to lowly Elburton when they inflicted the big upset of the day, when they turned us over in the Easter local derby. A perfect morning and a good crowd saw a game of many missed chances. We were somewhat below strength, with key players missing. Matty Hawke was on the bench (work commitment) and Jamie Morrison Hill (knee). However, the game should have been catered for in the first half. Sammy Mathews saw his shot roll back off the post, and 5mins later, Andy Sargent suffered the same fate. It was going to be one of them days ?. After the break they took the lead with a good goal that caught "Zinny" off his line. We replied not long after . From a free kick Andy Sargent was on hand to equalize. Then the killer blow for us 10mins from time, a ball struck across the face of the goal found the net, to give them all the three Easter eggs !!. This shock result now gives us added pressure to maintain the healthy position within the league. Scroll down. "lidds"

TORPOINT AWAY

ALL THREE POINTS AT THE MILL !!
After the upset in the semi, we played a lot better , and avenged the early defeat at the hands of Torpoint at Bolitho Park. We took an early lead by Sammy Mathews. They got back level with a hotly disputed goal. Once again we went flagship, when John Heveran headed in from a corner. The game was sealed in the second half with a brilliant gaol from Andy Sargent. All in all, it was better ???

Late in the game we came under some pressure from the home side, looking to get back in the game with the score at 2-1. but Andy, latched onto a through ball. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE"
Not only did we celebrate the win over Torpoint at the mill. Not knowing to us it was a special day for one of us ??. It was disclosed in the clubhouse before the game, that it was no less, "Charlie's" birthday. As you all know , he is a larger than life member of the back-room staff at Bolitho Park. Any major project that has to be tackled at the ground, Charlie is at the helm. I know , all of us at Parkway, players , the manager, secretary, right down to the person who makes the tea!! we wish him all the best on the day. Dare I say it, 82 YEARS OLD. It just remains for me to say "Charlie", your a credit to yourself, and to your wonderful family. HAPPY BIRTHDAY

THROGMORTON CUP SEMI FINAL

"THE BRIDGERS DO US AGAIN ??"
Well !Well! Yet again we fall at the post. This will be the third time Ivybridge has had the last say in a cup-tie. I am tempted to tap in, you lucky "B------s !!" , but that would be wrong. On the night they were worthy winners. They were more up for it , maybe to avenge the two league victories we inflicted on them within the league. We scored first but they got level with an own goal. On the break they were flagship with the score at 2-1. Second half we just could not get it together. The Bridgers put two more past us to put the tie safe. The manager Dave Leonard, played all the options from the bench, but to no avail. It was not going to be our night. We did reply late in the game from the spot , but too late to change the mood of the game. It just remains from all at Parkway to wish them all the best for the final. But I think their luck will not stretch that far ??.

THROGMORTON CUP SEMI FINAL

"PHIL DANIELS"
Was drafted in from the second team. He came off the bench in the second half. He brought out the best save from the Ivybridge keeper Dave Painter, when he tipped his low shot just wide of the post. This would have given us level pegs, and who knows, might have changed the aspect of the whole game.

THROGMORTON CUP SEMI FINAL

PAUL BAKER
Hit the target twice. the first one a simple tap in, to give us the lead, when he followed up from a half saved shot by the keeper. His second, too late to change the game, was from the penalty spot. So now we are left to concentrate on the league. That is now Tuesday, 7th April at the Mill.
