CANCELLED YET AGAIN

"NO! NO! NOT AGAIN"
Yes, I'm afraid so. We yet again are beaten by the elements. The harsh weather put a stop to the home clash with "Tavistock". Up until 9-30am, we were looking good. But the forecast for the hard rain was spot on, and ruled the fixture off. So I went along to our "Parkway Seconds" out at "Roborough". As you know, they also are in contention for their league. Under some very poor conditions, they ran out winners by 2-1.
Kirk Smith opened the score-line with a fine solo effort in the first half. Second half the home side levelled. But it was "Kirk Smith" again in the 70min, firing through a melee of players to secure the points. With the conditions being as they were ,
"Kevin, and John Cole"the managers, must have been well pleased with the result.
So now I will, with the heavens in mind ? look forward to seeing you at the next game

RAINED OFF AGAIN

"BOLITHO PARK BOATING LAKE ??"
No not really, but the elements have beat us again. Once again the wet weather put the damper on our "Good Friday" fixture with our close neighbours "Elburton". The ground staff "Alan and Ernie" done their best , but to no avail. So now the season will be a close call for the teams in the race. It must be said "Saltash" are looking good. Having recorded a fine win over "Liskeard" in the Easter period. But they face some difficult games to come, and as we all know, it's on the day that counts ?. So I find myself saying to you again, hope to see you on Saturday, when we play host to "Tavistock ". Early in the season we recorded a fine win at "Langsford Park", but you cannot go on past results. Every game at this stage of the season is going to be hard.
SATURDAY 29TH BOLITHO PARK 2-45pm
Stay tuned "Lidds"

THE GOOD FRIDAY BATTLE

"RAINED OFF AGAIN ??"
Yet again we were subject to the elements
on Saturday bringing our season to a close finish. But in our camp it will give the ground time to recover, and also players with injuries
breathing space. So we now face our local
rivals Elburton, who we had a great game with
in the Xmas period. The outcome in that game
was level pegs three goals each. Although they are currently in the lower half of the league,
i'm sure we shall be in for a hard game for a victory. Anyway, weather permitting, we hope to see you
there.

HOLSWORTHY AT HOME

WE TAKE THE LEAD FROM THE SPOT ?
This home fixture with the North Devoners "Holsworthy" was a must win for us. Being currently in the basement area of the league counts for nothing. But a small crowd saw us play some good football. So we were expected to win. Taking the lead all be it from the spot with a well taken strike by Mark Berry. But it has to be said the visiting keeper "James Gill" had a great game keeping the score line low in the first half. They kept us out with some eratic defending. But a loose ball saw them score
to break level. Second half the positions in the league began to show. Ross Coombes was on target, to restore the lead. Yet again they managed to draw level with a simple header from close in. Then "John Heveran" hit a beauty from 35yds giving the keeper no chance. Shortly after "Andy Sargent" finished, after Ross Coombes fed him the opening for his simple goal. It was now one way traffic ?. Mark Berry found the top corner with a brilliant 35 yard free kick. To complete the score-line "Lynchie" came off the bench and done well shrugging off the last tackle to find the net. But again the visiting keeper played a big part in keeping the tally to the half dozen ?.

"SHANE POWELL"
On the right flank, had the better of his marker on many occasions and sent across some searching crosses in the first half.

"THE LONELY STRIKER ?"
Andy Sargent (9) surrounded by the visitors defence , still got on the score-sheet in the second half. Ross Coombes made the running, and fed the ball to Andy to finish.

MAN OF THE MATCH
Once again "John Heveran" had an outstanding game . Our third goal to resume our lead was a pile-driver from a good 35yds from John.He put his name on the award , here being presented by one of our many young supporters "Jake Sykes".

TORPOINT HOME

"JOHN HEVERAN"
In our game against "Torpoint", he was well on his way to claim the Man of the Match award. But with us all worried pending on the news about "Doely's" injury, (REPORT BELOW) I thought only right to call the celebrations "void".

TORPOINT HOME

"LEE DOEL"
Picked up a nasty injury in the second half. A fair tackle with both players going in hard, "Lee" was left clutching his leg in pain. It looked bad, so play was held up and the Ambulance was duly called. But after a phone-call today , we are informed that nothing broken, but a severe bruising. It did put a damper on the beer after ? but we lost anyway ??

TORPOINT HOME

THE PRESSURE IS ON ?
On this home fixture with our neighbours from across the
Tamar, we knew it was not going to be easy. How right we were. A perfect night, a good crowd, but we lacked in the football. When you are top of the league, you are the target.
Torpoint came for the upset, and did just that. A free kick saw
them take the lead just on the break. Second half we fell further into trouble when "Tom Blackler" made a boob on
a 35 yarder that found the back of the net. We battled but it was not going to be our night. We lost "Lee Doel" through injury, so that meant players off the bench. Deep into the game we forced a penalty. Mark Berry stepped up and made no mistake from the spot. But it was too late to change the outcome of the game. From now on, it is going to be tough ??

SUMMARY OF OUR LEAGUE POSITION

TOP OF THE LEAGUE ?
This handshake for the joint management of "Parkway", was the start of a great success story for us at "Bolitho Park". Some cast a shadow, but "Roger and Gez" have proved them all wrong. They have guided us through the new league , and to date standing four points clear at the top. Up against the big spenders in the league ,In my book that is success all round. Not forgetting our hard working chairman "Mark Rowles" who is the brains behind all we take on. I can report that soon, we have the founder member of the club "Stuart Cadmore", returning to us from "Cyprus". He and his good wife have decided to return to the homeland. No not Cornwall ? but Bolitho Park. Im sure with his vast knowledge of our local football, he will be an asset to the club once again. Especially now with the new club-house plans nearing completion. The first bucket of cement any day now ??.
On the playing side ,the squad has worked hard in training, and shown full commitment. Player coach "James Lynch and Mark Gammon" have done a great job in finding the level of fitness in the players that you must have. The recent new faces to the squad have fitted in well. "John Haveran" has put in some great performances, since coming to "Bolitho Park". We are now chasing a tall front runner , who is to date a prominent scorer in the league. No names yet ? but watch this space so to speak ?.
So that leaves us now in a very precarious position in the league. The pressure is surely on . We have to face "Saltash Utd" home and away, and I think this will be the crunch test for us. But as we all know, there is no game now that you trot out and say, this will be three points for us today. You have to knuckle down and make it happen. Results just of late have proved that ?. Reminder now the next battle is on Wed 5th March when we play host to "Torpoint Ath" with a 7-30pm k-o.
Hope to see you there !!
