THROGMORTON CUP

WE DAMP DOWN THE "ASHES"
The line of respect is done as always before this quarter final clash with our friends across the Tamar. A damp night and some other team on the "box", it gave us a poor attendance. The conditions were heavy , but never the less both sides produced some good football. It was always going to be a well contested battle. With the power of "Hobo" for us, and "Gavin Colton" for "Saltash", the game could go any way ?. But on the night we turned it on. "Danny Brooks" with the first goal after 35 mins. Then a loose ball ran nicely for "Lee Doel" to register the second goal before the break. We had to defend for long periods, but "Ben" was on his toes and made some fine saves. The killer blow for the "Ashes" came in the 75 min. "Brooksie" sent in a power drive and "Andy Sargent"was on the near post to get the last touch. The visitors gave us a hard battle, but all thanks to the "Parkway " squad, including the options used off the bench for raising to the occasion. It was a great win !!

INJURY !!
The Saltash physio attends to "Toby Clark". It marred the game slightly when he needed Hospital treatment for the injury. All at "Parkway" wish him well. He was left polaxed after being involved in a 50-50 challenge with "Hobo", (say no more ?)

GLYNN HOBBS
"Hobo" brushes aside two defenders and powers on !. He was a constant threat to the "Ashes" defence all the game.

MAN OF THE MATCH
Danny Brooks once again showed his skill on the ball during the 90mins of play. He gave us the lead after 35mins when he side-stepped his defender. His clinical left foot shot found the corner of the net. Also he was involved in the third goal when his power drive was turned in by the near post by Andy Sargent getting the final touch.
Next game Sat 26th home to Bovey Tracy.

NO ! NOT AGAIN ??
The look of disappointment from the loyal supporters who attend the ground every day. Only to hear yet again game off !. This ill fated local derby against "Elburton Villa"is cancelled once more. Boxing day it was the snow, this time the rain. Up until 11.0 o'clock we were 50-50, but the down-pour in the lunchtime, saw us fall foul of the elements once again. It curtailed any chance of play. Now the game is re-scheduled for March 16th . But now we look forward to the "Throgmorton Cup" quarter final at home to our rivals across the Tamar "Saltash Utd". This is our next game. Obviously it will be weather permitting ?? . Big game ! get there early ??

LISKEARD AWAY

NEWS ON THE MOVE ??
It was not easy at "Lux Park", but going a goal down we showed character and got back into the game for the away win. In the second half they were well pleased to take the lead. A shot was half saved by "Ben", but the loose ball was tapped home by the far post. Play was end to end, both sides going close. The powers to be brought on some fresh legs from the bench. It was a good move. Ryan Richards added some movement up front, and Andy Sargent was on hand to get the two goals needed.

SUPER SUB SARGENT !!
Andy Sargent came off the bench in the second half and changed the outcome of the result. Being a goal down, his first chance after "Hobo" done well. He shot low in the corner to bring us level pegs. 5 mins later, this time saw "Lee Doel" tackled on the bye-line near the post. The ball popped up nicely for "Sargie" to head home from close in . His second goal and what proved to be the winner.

LISKEARD AWAY

BEN ELPHICK
Saw plenty of action forced upon him from the "Blues" front runners. But he kept the scoreline safe with some fine saves.

LISKEARD AWAY

LEE BEVAN
Had a difficult 90mins up against the "Blues" right flanker who was quite clever on the ball. But the trusty left foot held out fine !!

LISKEARD AWAY

SHANE KRAC
One of the names in the frame for Man of the Match. Had a great game in mid-field. He brought out the best in the home keeper "Gary Maule" when his 25yd shot was palmed away to safety.

At the end of the 90mins, it was a tough decision for the club award. But for the second game in a row, John Heveran got the "nod". Next game Wed 16th Feb at home to Elburton Villa.

IVYBRIDGE TOWN AWAY

WET SHIRTS AT ERM VALLEY ??
BUT STILL THE WIN ??
A small crowd braved the elements for this somwhat local derby. But it is never easy against Brian Howard's band of players. A single goal was the outcome. We were the more prominent side in the first half and led by the strike coming from "Danny Brooks". But second half they came at us , and we had to defend for some anxious moments to keep the score-line in our favour. We defended well, with "Ben" in goal making some brave saves. I do think the score would have been greater but for their new keeper "Kenny Griffiths", who had a fine debut. It was good to see also, ex-Parkway player "Eddie Edwards", who is at the helm now at "Erme Valley". We hope all the plans now taking place at the ground is a success. Because not everyone is lucky enough to have an "umberella" ?? (only a joke )

IVYBRIDGE TOWN AWAY

CHRIS WRIGHT
We went looking for the second goal after the break. "Wrighty" (centre) thought he had got it when he fired home from close in. But the new signing for the home side in goal from Saltash Utd, Kenny Griffiths justified the move and brought off a fine save.

EYE ON THE BALL ??
Central defender "John Heveran" had a great game. He was a stumbling block for the "Bridgers " front runners.

IVYBRIDGE TOWN AWAY

FIRST HALF PRESSURE !!
We had most of the play in the first period. Especially "Hobo" braking down the left flank. Here he is marshalled by an ex-Parkway favourite of mine "Josh Fenwick". I for one was sorry to see him leave "Bolitho Park" for greener pastures.

IVYBRIDGE TOWN AWAY

"HOBO" ON THE ATTACK !!
Once again the "Bridgers" defence had to face the danger of "Glynn Hobbs". He sent over a couple of screamers just wide of the target in the first half.

IVYBRIDGE TOWN AWAY

A LITTLE BIT OF "BRILLIANCE" FROM "BROOKSIE"
It took until late in the first first half to secure the victory at "Erme Valley". Danny Brooks seen here complete with his "snood", called for a long ball. His first touch was spot on , and he moved across the front of the gaol. His low left foot shot gave the keeper no chance to save. He was well in the frame for Man of the Match, but was just pipped by "Heffers", for the final vote.

MAN OF THE MATCH
For an outstanding game in our defence, John Heveran claimed the club trophy. Here we see him from a corner, heading just over the bar.But it must be said, he was well backed up by Lance Bailey and on the flanks Lee Bevan and Mark Bonney. Both with their trusty left foot clearances during the game. Next Game Friday 11th Feb away to Liskeard.
