TAVY AT HOME

"SILENCE OF THE LAMBS" (AGAIN)
We have now registered the victory home and away over "Tavy". A good crowd saw a game, much improved from Saturdays display. This is always a tough game for us, so it was no surprise to see the break no score. But the pep talk from you know who ? done the trick. Second half we were a different side. "Jumbo" gave us the lead, followed up by Andy Sargent. They pulled one back with a glancing header from a corner by Mark Condy. Then we put the game beyond reach, with a power of a header from John Heveran. They did suffer a blow when one of their "lambs" on a second yellow, was sent off. He "chopped" down one of our players. So, we are set now for the semi, on Tuesday. Scroll down for the score details.

"JIMMY ALEXANDRA"
On target again, this time with much more credit. The first shot was blocked, but he snapped onto the second ball. From an acute angle his shot crashed the roof of the net to give us the lead.

"SECOND GOAL"
Andy Sargent was lurking on the far post. A low shot took a deflection, it found "Sargie", with a first time strike to finish.

"THIRD GOAL"
Another fine performance put in by Johnny Heveran. Came up in the second half for a corner. His clean header found the back of the net to make the game safe. He also for his troubles, put his name on the clubs Man of the match.

SEMI FINAL THROGMORTON CUP

"TUES 31ST MARCH 7-30PM
The venue is Lux Park at Liskeard. The opposition being no less Ivybridge Town. We have beaten them twice in the league this season, but that is nothing to go on. As you know cup-ties are funny games to judge. Memory tells me, we have never beat them in a cup round ??. But bearing in mind the past two good results for us, against Liskeard and Tavy, we must be positive and go for it !!. See you there ?

LISKEARD AT HOME

"EARLY PRESSURE FOR THE BLUES !"
The game was not one of our best by far. A poor crowd on a perfect day saw a game lacking in skill from both sides. We were definitely missing fire power up front with Chris Wright and Andy Sargent both not playing. However, we saw the break flagship by the single goal. The ball fed in from the by-line by Sammy Mathews found Jimmy Alexandra. His shot not one of his best , by his admission but good enough to find the net. Second half they had the chances to level, but we held out. But in the late stages of the game we were unlucky on two chances by Danny Worth. So after a disappointing performance by our standards, we were glad for the 90min whistle. I think the manager at the end of the day would say, it was a lucky three points for us.

VARSITY AT BOLITHO PARK

"HERE WE GO AGAIN"
Once again we are the venue for the annual Varsity event. But before , some hard work has to be catered for. Here we see the back-room boys of the club doing their bit. The event was a huge success once again. Marjons ran out winners 1-o in the Ladies, and the men again winners after a penalty shoot-out. Just a minor scuffle during the penalty shoot. But our heavy gang led by "Gez and Jason"was soon averted. It ended up "handbags and lipsticks from 50yds". But the event was well supported by the fans. Apart from the clean-up, we were well pleased. So on behalf of our chairman , we thank all the dedicated support we have at the club. Not forgetting the man himself who makes it all happen, our chairman "Mark Rowles".

CLYST ROVERS HOME

"CLYST WERE OUTCLASSED"
Manager Dave Leonard bounced the squad back to winning ways, after the disappointing result at Blaise Park mid-week. We bounced back to the tune of seven goals. A poor crowd had their moneys worth. We were in control soon after the first goal. After that it was one way traffic. Andy Sargent added 4 to his tally. All be it, one was from the spot. Sammy Mathews, Mat Cusack and Paul Baker made the grand total of seven. Clyst replied, late in the game , but it was pure consolation. Scroll down for some action "lidds"

ST BLAZEY AWAY

"THE BLAISE PARK BLUES CONTINUE ?"
I have been to "Blaise"as a player and won, but never in support of a team, on the other side of the line, have recorded a win. It was a dismal night, a dismal crowd, and a dismal result. (for us anyway). It was a poor display on our part. Not looking for excuses, but we missed the fire-power up front. First half was goal-less, but they hit us with a quick goal soon after the break. The ball scrambled back from the bye-line, and from an acute angle found the roof of the net. Their second was a cruel deflection from the left flank, sending the ball over "Zinnys" head. To put the game out of our reach, was a loose ball on the far post to make it three. Its ironic, but all the ex-Parkway's players within their squad, namely, Russell, Blackler and Joey Smith, all had prominent games against us. Our goal, too late to make any mark on the game, came from Any Sargent. It was the best of the evening, hit from about 35yds. It flew past the home keeper like a "shooting star". This just goes to show, how unpredictable our league has become ?. You might be playing the bottom of the league, you can't judge the score-line. ?? I trust we all had a safe trip home.

ST BLAZEY AWAY

"ANDY SARGENT"
Although too late to reflect a change in the result. Andy struck the best goal of the game. From 35yds, it went past the home keeper like a "shooting star" ??.

ST LUKES BOWL VERSUS EXETER CITY

"WE BOW OUT OF THE ST LUKES BOWL"
But it must be said, it was no walkover. The first half their running off the ball, and the confidence to take on a player, gave them the edge. The break saw us 2 goals down. But they were clear cut chances giving "Zinny " no chance to save. But second half, after the managers shake-up chat, it was a different game. We had them on the back foot for long periods. But that golden chance would not fall for us. However, we got back in the game all be it from the spot. Andy Sargent stepped up and gave us some hope. But that was going to be the result. Not forgetting moments from time we had a header cleared off the line, or over the line??. Our shout for the goal was turned away. I would like to see that again in slow motion on Match of the Day ??. Seeing that they had the influx of a couple of experience players on the field, I thought we played well. It was not an easy game for them, but we wish them well for the next round.

EXETER CITY HOME

"BREAKING NEWS ??"
As you know by now, we have suffered the blow of the loss of services of our top striker for league and club. Chrissie Wright has broken his ankle. This will hit us hard in the healthy position we hold at this date. However, that's the difficult task any football manager faces. I'm sure we will cope in the capable hands of Dave Leonard.

"A SMALL GROUSE"
It was a good cup-tie, played in a very sporting manner. As I recall, only one yellow card shown. But ask me why, the visiting squad never came in the club-house after the game to gather our hospitality. Come on ! Exeter is not a million miles away ??. So our catering personsell hard work went for nothing ??. There was a lot of food left over not touched. Anyway, we wish them well in the next round. No hard feelings. TAVY AWAY

"SLAUGHTER OF THE LAMBS AT LANGSFORD PARK"
Would you believe at Langsford Park, going in on the break four nil up. It was now going to be a battle for the home side. Andy Sargent got the ball rolling so to speak, with a simple tap in. Chris Wright then came on the scene and found the target twice. Sargent then got his second goal with a cannon of a header from a pin-point free kick. He went on in the second half to complete the hat-trick, lobbing "Meadsie" in the home goal. Ross Saint got a goal to make the tally of six. Tavy did get back two goals, but it was pure consolation. In the final talk, the manager Dave Leonard, was more than pleased with the outcome of the game. Scroll down for the action
