WEEKEND WASHOUT !!

"GAME OFF !!" (not again ??)
Yet again we suffer from the elements. Friday saw a band of loyal supporters travel down to Priory Park for the game against Bodmin Town. We were virtually feet from the clubhouse door when we were told , game off !! So it was a quick pint and home again. So I planned to cover the Parkway 2nds on Saturday against St Stevens at home. But again the downpour was upon us. The game was started and Parkway winning by a slender goal. After the first half, the ground became unplayable, so the "ref" called it a day. In the club after, the general patter was that it should have been rained off from the start. Our ground staff now have a major task in getting the pitch ready for the F.A. Vase cup on Saturday. I feel with all the cancellations we are suffering, it's going to be a long season for us all.

WEEKEND WASHOUT !!

"THE POWERS TO BE " (Good news! Bad news)
After the news at the last moment, that the game was off, manager Dave Leonard and assistant Mark Gammon were not all that disappointed ??. Baring in mind the all important fixture looming, by way of the F.A.Vase cup. We carry at the moment some bumps and bruises within the squad. So with the weeks grace, it will give the players time to get fit, and give us a full squad to pick from. The manager knows full well, in the wet conditions, it would be our luck to get an injury to a key player. So now we are at the hands of the elements for the next game. F.A.Vase 3rd round at home to Arundle F.C. Again, unknown quality for us, but that is what the cup is all about ?. See you there Bolitho Park 3pm.

LISKEARD AT HOME

"DAVE LEONARD (manager)"
Although braving a slight smile, I don't think he was happy with the result after the 90mins. But every game in our league is going to be a battle. A good crowd saw an entertaining game that had six goals, two penalties and some yellow cards. Although lowly positioned in the league , Liskeard came to do battle. It must be said in the first half they were the better side. Because shortly after the break, we found ourselves 2-0 down. After injury, the manager had to play his options from the bench. Andy Sargent came on and changed the game. No less than three goals in 12mins. His first a header off a corner, the second from the spot. The third to give us a brief spell in front. But the brave efforts to claw our way back into this game was taken away in the dying minutes of the game. Marc Bonney who untill now had played well, but his clumsy challenge in the box saw the man in black point to the dreaded spot. The penalty was duly converted to give them shared points. At the end of the 90mins , I thought it was a fair result.

LISKEARD AT HOME

"DOELIES BACK !!"
As you may already know, Lee Doel has returned to the hallowed turf of Bolitho Park. His short spell with Saltash Utd at Kimberley was not to be. I'm sure all will agree his return will be welcomed. A firm favourite of mine, for his tireless running and effort in any game. Also a larger than life character, every team must have.
Welcome back "Lee"

LISKEARD AT HOME

"SUPER SUB"
Brought off the bench and changed the game with three goals in 12mins. His first a brilliant header on the far post from a Jonny Morris corner. The second, all be it from the spot. His third to make the hat-trick, and to give us a brief spell in the lead, was a simple tap in from close in, after Paul Baker created the chance.

"MARC BONNEY"
Always gives you 100% for effort in his game. But his clumsy challenge in the box cost us the win. (should have kept his eye on the ball ??)
Next game now Dartmouth away Tues 24th .

F.A VASE CUP VERSUS BITTON

"MARKING THE DAY"
We present the club pennant as always for cup matches. But the daunting forecast of bad weather resulted in a poor crowd for this cup-tie. But a typical cup-tie none the less. Five goals scored, two penalties, two yellow cards and the Sun came out ?. We took the lead after 16mins, after Ryan Honey's shot took a slight deflection but found the net. But it was short lived, when Josh Fenwick up-ended in the box. Bitton levelled from the spot. Then we failed to clear a ball, it was knocked back from the bye-line and slotted home to put them in front. Just before the break, Mat Cusack found space. He shot from 30yds, everyone stopped including the keeper, thinking the ball was going wide. But it found the corner of the net to put us back level pegs. Second half both sides had chances to score. Bitton were then awarded a second penalty, much to the amazement of all behind the goal ??. But justice prevailed when the keeper Ben Elphlick picked the right side and made a great save. This for me was the turning point of the game. Mat Cusack broke away and fed the ball into the box. The second ball fell for Andy Sargent to slam home what turned out to be the winner. They came at us then, but our defence marshaled by Matty Hawke, Josh and Marc Bonney were all up for it. Having considering the league status of the two teams, it was a great win for us. Enjoyed by all, but were you there ?????.

"JOSH FENWICK"
"Josh", gets his tackle in. But the man in black saw it in a different view. They levelled from the spot. Incidentally, the Bitton player is ex-Bristol Rovers and Q.P.R player of the past. He was their best player. This was the standard of pedigree they had in their squad.

F.A VASE CUP VERSUS BITTON

"WEATHER PERMITTING ??"
Having being rained off last week on Tuesday and Friday, we now look to the next fixture which is the F.A Vase cup. Our dedicated ground staff have nursed the pitch to fit the occasion. We take on unknown quality by the way of Bitton F.C. They reside in the Bristol ,Bath area. Currently now lying a healthy fifth position in the Toolstation Western Premier. Although a step higher in status, we have taken on this challenge before. I presume we have a full squad available, with the added knowledge that Chris Wright is cup-tied having played for Saltash . But I'm sure the manager Dave Leonard has got this slight miss-fortune catered for. So we wait now for the heavens to be kind to us, but the forecast is not good. However, that is the next date for you. Plymouth Parkway versus Bitton F.C. Bolitho Park 3pm. See you there ???

CULLUMPTON HOME

"PENALTY!!
This was just before the given moment when Arran Cusack was up-ended in the box. Being a goal down, this was the chance to bring us back level. Chris Wright stepped up and done the honours. This was just before the break. He was on target again after good work from Paul Baker. The ball was fed through and finished in fine style. Arran Cusack netted the third goal on the near post from an opening made by Jonny Morris. Manager Dave Leonard used all the options from the bench. It was a good move that saw Andy Sargent hit a beauty to give us the tally of four and all three points. A game witnessed by a meagre crowd by our normal standards. But It was always going to be a difficult fixture, what with the fine results Cullumpton have registered. Also the threat of Roger Bonaparte, who we know from old can tear you apart with his quick pace. But our Matty Hawke, Josh and Marc Bonney were up for the challenge and handled him well. Scroll down and wish you were there ??

"HAWKIE VERSUS BONAPARTE !!
Matty Hawke had to be on form to cater for the speed of pace of Roger Bonaparte. We have in the past had to deal with Roger, when he had the last laugh on us. But this time Hawkie and Josh Fenwick were ready. It seems their main threat to us was not a trump card ??.
