WITHERIDGE TOWN AWAY

"A TYPICAL SATURDAY AFTERNOON ??"
This game had everything !. A bit of sunshine ! 5 goals ! yellow cards ! one red card ! a missed penalty or a great save. (whoever side your on) We were two goals down and won 3-2. A pint and a pasty, and I trust we all had a safe journey home.

ACTION FROM "EDGE DOWN PARK"

WITHERIDGE TOWN

"JIMMY LYNCH"
We were two goals down when "Player Coach Lynchie" was called off the bench. He soon made himself felt ,when he latched onto a through ball. He just got enough contact on the ball before the tackle. But it was enough to beat the keeper for our first goal.

"BRIAN HAMMOND"
Owing to players missing from the squad, Brian was drafted in from the second team for the day. Being upgraded to the senior side he never let us down putting in a solid performance. He was on the goal-line forcing the ball over, to register our equalizer in the second half.

"MARTIN SULLIVAN"
Came to the rescue, when he made space to shoot low in the corner of the net, to give us all three points in the 88th minute.

"TOM BLACKLER"
Without doubt, put his name on the Man of the Match. Bringing off some great saves during the 90mins. Not to forget, his great double save from the spot to save the day.

SALTASH UTD THROGMORTON CUP AT HOME

"ASHES TOO HOT TO HANDLE "???
"Saltash", a young talented side, came across the "Tamar"
with a more positive attitude to win than we could handle.
The much awaited tie between the Clubs was attended by a good crowd despite the elements. They saw an entertaining game added by the slippery conditions. We had a bonus at the start hearing that ex-Parkway player "Tony Bouch" was not playing. In my book, "Bouchie" is one of the finest young defenders in our league. But on the night, he was asked to take over the Managers role for the game. First half we held out , untill just on the break they scored. A typical goal stabbed home from close in from a corner. Second half going further ahead with another corner seeing them getting the last touch. The final nail in the coffin, and to sum up our night, was a free kick from 35yds. It went through like a rocket giving Parkway keeper "Dave Painter" no chance. We have only ourselves to blame. On the night we were without doubt,
"second best".

WHO WOULD WANT
TO BE A
"MANAGER" ??
Our joint Managers "Gez and Roger", have now the daunting task of getting the side back to winning ways again. Just lately, it has shown lack of commitment, and eagerness to win. We started off so well, but now beginning to lose the plot. Were going fishing, but got no bait ??. Anyway, I'm sure we will pull through, and always remember, It's only a game of football !!

SALTASH UTD HOME

"Paul Quinn"
After considering you have just been knocked out of the cup, I have to put my thinking cap on for the Man of the Match award. But because we lost ,does not say we all played bad. For this , I award "Paul Quinn", who I thought had a sound game at the back. His natural left foot, got our front runners away on many chances. But alas, to no avail ? Also, "Paul" is about to embark on his trip, having been selected for the England University Team. I feel sure all at "Parkway" wish him well.

ST BLAZEY AWAY

"MINUTE SILENCE"
Before the game started, both teams gave tribute with a minutes silence, for an old
"St Blazey" supporter by the name of "Gerry Buddle", who has passed away.
So, off we go. First half no side put their stamp on the game. To be honest, it was poor. We were well below our best, and the home side were not much better. I can see why they are only mid-table. Second half we stepped up the pace a little, but that final chance to score, eluded us. We never tested the keeper with any clear shots on target. Just when I thought level pegs was a fair result, they went and "pinched it". It must have been the 89th min, when the ball was fed into the area from a breakaway. They side-stepped the last defender and found the corner of the net. We were all gutted to lose, so close to the final whistle. (never mind) I trust we had a safe journey home.

NEW SIGNING
STEVE NEWTON
Our roving talent scout by the good name of
"Gerry (mungo)Sullivan" has put us in touch with 6ft 2in "Steve Newton" who has moved to the area. "Steve" turned out for Worksop, who play in the Northern Premier League in a mid-field role. He did make an appearance at "Blaize Park", but credit to the player , not long enough to show us what he's made of ?? We welcome him to the club.

"Even Stevens"
I did think in the first half, that both sides were level on the chances to score.

"ST BLAZEY KEEPER"
We came up against ex-Parkway player "Tom Buckler" but this time in the opposite goal. But I thought in the 90mins, we never put him to the test ?

"TOM BLACKLER"
Parkway's keeper, only making his second appearance for the club, made some good saves. Especially in the first half ,to keep us level pegs on the break.

BODMIN TOWN HOME

MARK BERRY PUT'S THE "BOOT IN" (AND SCORES)
This eagerly awaited fixture lived up to expectations for a good crowd, considering the elements on the day. After some deep thought by the officials, the game was on. First half, both sides had chances to put a stamp on the game. But it took until the second period when the heavens opened ,for things to happen. Firstly we lost "Brooksie" on a straight red card for a late tackle. He left a big gap in the mid-field for us. Bodmin then took the lead on 80mins when a second ball was crashed home. We battled on and came close to getting level. It was ironic that late in the game, "Mark Berry", who turned down a lucrative move to Bodmin, got the equalizer. He turned his two defenders, and his shot eluded the outstretched hands of the keeper to score. He was duly mobbed to the delight of the home crowd. I thought we were delt a cruel blow for the red card, so we were pleased to get something out of this high profile fixture.

EARLY PRESSURE

BODMIN TOWN

DANNY BROOKS
We suffered a second half blow, when we lost "Brooksie" on a straight red. I thought he was harshly delt with by the "ref". Taking in the conditions on the day, tackles are always going to look worse than they are ??. They had a similar incident in the first half. The player was only spoken to by the ref. But when it happens to us, it was a "red card" !! . Dont that make you "ponder a little ??.
