BIDEFORD TOWN HOME

AS ALWAYS !!
Skipper "Will Stringer"does the honours, before we showed what football is all about at "Bolitho Park. It was a great win for us, with some good football played. A small crowd saw 5 goals with three penalties that always adds to a game. John Haveran opened the score line with a blaster from 35yds. A penalty miss by "Sargie" when the keeper saved. but he redeemed soon after when "Hobbo"put one on the plate for him to score. They replied then ,again from the spot after "Bonnie" handled in the box. After the break they came at us , but with "Stringer" at the back , it was not easy for them. The third penalty of the game saw "Brooksie" step aside to give the chance for "Andy" to give us the third goal . They were now on the back foot, and "Brooksie" nailed down the coffin with a low shot in the corner of the net.

GLYNN HOBBS
Although not on the score-sheet, as we all know from the past when "Hobbo" runs at you with the ball at his feet, your in trouble.

3RD GOAL FROM THE SPOT
I was caught out for this one being a long way away. But it shows "Andy" slotting away the third goal after his first one was saved by the keeper. Confidence restored ??

BEN ELPHLICK
A great start for the season for our keeper. He has played brilliant in the both friendlies, and was only beaten once from the spot.

VISITING KEEPER
We gave the visiting keeper for the North Devon side, plenty to think about for the 90mins of play.

DANNY BROOKS
Had a great game, in the 80th min, called for a ball from a throw-in, turned and shot low in the corner for the 4th goal. (brilliant).

THE MANAGERS
Parkway's Gez and Wayner, must be well pleased with the way the squad are coming into shape. This was a great result for us, bearing in mind they are two levels above us. It was said they had key players missing, but dont read into that. We had players missing also !!. A good all round 90mins, saw us the better team.

GILLINGHAM TOWN FRIENDLY

PRESENTATION
As always at "Bolitho Park" we mark the day, to welcome "Gillingham Town". They play in the Toolstation Western League Div 1. The game was played in a spirited fashion with not a single yellow card. (well done Brooksie !!). I thought we were the stronger side right from the first whistle. First half goal-less, but then after the break we took the lead. Glynn Hobbs came off the bench scoring with a brilliant free kick, and his second strike a low shot in the corner of the net. Chris Wright then saw the gap and added the third goal. Both managers "Gez and Wayner", must have been pleased with the performance of the squad. Early days yet, but I feel we will do well for the season. Scroll down

CHRIS WRIGHT
Started his goal scoring campaign with a great strike in the second half. That saw the scoreline at 3-0 and no way back for them.

GLYNN HOBBS
His introduction at "Boiltho Park", spoke for itself with two brilliant goals in the second half. His first a free kick from 35yds, to give us the lead. The second a low shot in the corner of the net. He did change the coures of the game when he came on for the second half.

MARK BONNEY
Personally I am more than glad to see young "Bonners" in the squad. A player that will give you 100% in any tackle. Here you see him under a little bit of pressure.

WILL STRINGER
Came to us from "Tavy", and in my book one of the best defenders in our league. In his first showing to the home supporters, they must be saying what a great signing for us. He had a great game and was well in charge in our defence. Had a great header from a corner that struck the cross-bar in the second half.

NEIL KINSMAN
Had a strong game for the 90mins. His brand of humour is something all teams must have. In the second half he hit a shot that had the keeper well beaten. Only to see his effort cannon off the crossbar.

SAFE HANDS !!
Once again we have the services of our keeper for the season, "Ben Elphlick". He handled with ease all that came his way. On the two chances they should have netted, Ben was the stumbling block to keep a clean sheet for the game. Next game now is Saturday 24th July at home to Bideford Town with a 2pm k.o.
