THROGMORTON CUP

THROGMORTON CUP VERSUS CAMELFORD
We enter the next round having recorded a 2-1 home win over the East Cornwall Premier side. Owing to a previous Xmas date, I was not in attendance. However, It was reported to me that they gave us a good game. Kirk Smith and Andy Sargent giving us the half time lead 2-0. After the break I'm told, they had the better of the play. But found Ben Elphlick, the home keeper hard to beat. Only to score the single goal. Next game now is Saturday away to Holsworthy. I leave you with a little bit of club gossip ?? There is a strong rumour that there could be no less than 3, Tamar Tags up for sale at Parkway ??. I leave it for you to work out ?
(as they say watch this space ?)

WITHERIDGE AT HOME

"EARLY PRESSURE AT BOLITHO PARK !!
Bolitho Park was blessed with blue skies for this difficult fixture. But a disappointing crowd in attendance for the game. However, they saw the break with us in front with a healthy lead. Lee Doel struck first with a great shot, and then laid on a simple tap in for Andy Sargent. The third goal was a gift, when the visiting keeper tried to clear his line. The ball hit a dreaded dibit !! he turned to watch the ball roll over the line. They got a goal back that was slightly controversial. But our shout for hand-ball was ignored by the "ref". Second half they came at us. Having the best of the play, but at the end you have to hit the target. The old story when you push forward, you leave yourself open for the breakaway. Carl Curtiss saw his chance and ran well with the ball, to finish in fine style for our fourth goal. Sunshine, and all three points.

Matty Hawke was in fine form, and was well backed up by Jonny Morris (nearest). They were solid in defence, against the North Devon front runners.

"MAN OF THE MATCH"
Lee Doel had the final vote for the award. His brilliant strike within 5 mins to give us the lead. Also setting up the easiest of chances for Andy Sargent to register our second goal from close in. Next game now, Tuesday at home to Camelford in the cup with a 7.30pm k.o.

F.A VASE V ARUNDEL

"PRESENTATION"
As always at "Bolitho Park"we mark the day. The club pennant handed to keeper and captain Ben Oconner for Arundel, by stand-in skipper for the day Matty Hawke.
A brave crowd saw a game that took their mind off the constant rain. Play end to end , six goals and seven yellow cards. Five for them and two for us. We went one nil down but soon got back level. We took the lead only for them to draw level to give us the dreaded extra time. But in that added time we showed strength and fitness. Scoring two goals to give us the result. The team talk after by the manager Dave Leonard was heralded many times, by the quote "bloody brilliant", (for want of a stronger word ??)
But it was a great display by the squad. I must apologise for lack of images for the game. Rain and cameras, they don't mix very well. Scroll down for the goal scorers.

"HOME SUPPORT"
Inspite of the forcast of rain, and that other team playing home ? we did well for our crowd attendance. Also with the elements playing a major roll on the local football, they came along to watch our game.

"IT'S A GOAL!!"
The keeper had no chance to save the free kick from Andy Sargent.

"ANDY GET'S US BACK LEVEL"
We suffered the early goal after only 10mins play. But with a free kick pending, I thought was too far out for the shot. But Andy Sargent against the wind, found the top corner of the net to give us level pegs. (brilliant!!) My image above, shows the visiting keeper could only stand and stare !!.

"VASE MAN OF THE MATCH"
"MAT CUSACK"
This was an easy and unanimous choice for the club award. His constant running and quick pace was always a threat for the visiting defence. Not to forget his brilliant solo effort and hitting the target to give us the lead 2-1 after 40mins play.

"MORRISEY PUT'S US IN FRONT !!"
Jonney Morris don't score many, but this one was brilliant. In the first half of extra time he found space on the left wing. He cut in and from a good 30yds he let fly. His shot dipped over the keepers head perfectly to find the net and give us the lead.
He then ran towards the dug-out and done the favoured celebration slide. But it's o'k
the ground-staff will fill in the six foot dibit left by his ass !!.

"DANNY "SEALS THE GAME !!
Young Danny Worth was upgraded from the second team for this all important cup-tie. Having some first squad players cup-tied, we had to call upon the seconds for players. Danny came off the bench, and in the second period of extra time, he cut in on the near post and found the net to put us safely in the next round.
